What are the units covered in this course?

This course covers the following nationally recognised units of competency:

  • UEERE0054 - Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems
  • UEERE0061 - Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems
  • UEERE0080 - Install photovoltaic power conversion equipment to grid
  • UEERE0081 - Install photovoltaic systems to power conversion equipment

These units of competency fulfill the qualification requirement for Electricians to gain their Grid-Connect Install and Design PV System Accreditation from the Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA).

Who is eligible for this course?

Those who are eligible for this course are required to be:

  • Electricians who hold a current Queensland Electrical Work Licence (or equivalent) and wish to gain knowledge and/or SAA Accreditation
  • Electrical Apprentices who have completed the following pre-requisites units:
UEEEL0012 Install low voltage wiring, appliances, switchgear and associated accessories
UEEEL0039 Design, install and verify compliance and functionality of general electrical installations
  • Trade Assistants who wish to gain further knowledge of solar PV installation and design. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued upon completion.

What are the course outcomes?

There are two types of Grid Connect Accreditation you can achieve upon completion of solar  courses for Electricians, including:

Install Accreditation: Required to install Grid Connected Solar Systems in Australia (UEERE0080 & UEERE0081)

Design Accreditation: Required to design Grid Connected Solar Systems in Australia (UEERE0054 & UEERE0061)

If you’re only interested in becoming qualified to install Grid Connected Solar Systems, then all you need to complete is the Install pathway. However, it’s important to note that as an accredited installer you will have to work in conjunction with an accredited designer for all Solar jobs. If you want to be able to undertake the entire project, you need to be trained and accredited within the Design and Install pathway. When considering solar courses for Electricians in Queensland, most choose the full accreditation option as it not only gives them greater flexibility and more opportunities, but a greater understanding of the installation job.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able apply for accreditation with Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA). Once accredited, Electricians are eligible for government rebates such as Small-scale Technology Certificates and feed-in tariffs.

How long is this course?

The install and design course is delivered over a five-day face-to-face workshop. We show you the real work applications of installation, from tin feet and tile feet to hanger bolts and tilt frames, tripods and ground mounts to understanding how to size an isolator, fit off a multi-hole glands and test, verify and commission the whole system.

Our trainer is an Electrical Contractor who works in the solar industry. Working through simulated work situations he will be on hand to offer support and guidance.
