This course has been designed for electrical workers who wish to gain an Electrical Contractors Licence in Queensland. Examples used throughout the course are specific to the Electrical Industry, and you will learn how to comply with legislation, complete contracts, and manage risks in your business. The course can be completed in Brisbane or Townsville over two days in a face-to-face classroom environment.
To be eligible to undertake this course, you must have basic English literacy and numeracy skills. After successful completion of this course, you will attain the following units of competency:
UEECD0007: Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
BSBESB402: Establish Legal and Risk Management Requirements of Small Business
UEEEL0040: Develop compliance policies and plans to conduct an electrical contracting business
This course has been designed for those that wish to start a new business offering electrical services. During the course you will create 2 workplace policies a safe work method statement (SWMS) and a business procedure. You will learn how to comply with Queensland laws and regulations and gain an understanding of Sole Trader, Partnership, Company and Trust structures and how each structure will impact your business.
You may choose to complete this course if you are already an Electrical Contractor in Queensland and you require a new Queensland Electrical Contractors licence (for example you are changing your structure from a sole trader to company). If this is the case and you already have policies and procedures in your workplace please ensure you let your Trainer know so they can adjust your assessment requirements to best suit your needs.
Please note the units of competency included in this course satisfy the QBP (Qualified Business Person) qualification requirement for a Queensland Electrical Contractors Licence. This course is primarily for electrical workers who wish to start a business offering electrical services. It's also for those that aren't an electrical worker but wish to become the nominated Qualified Business Person on an Electrical Contractors' Licence.
The QBP course will train and prepare you for many practical scenarios that you may face as an Electrical Contractor in Queensland. The trainer has had many professional years of experience and will impart constructive and relevant examples, tips, and lessons.

You may have already completed 1 or more of the above units of competency. If you have completed one of the units above then you may choose to only complete 1 or 2 of the units. You will select the units you wish to complete upon enrolment.
If you are completing the course in order to become the nominated Qualified Business Person (QBP) on a Queensland Electrical Contractors licence and you have previously run a business for more than 5 years you may not be required to complete unit of competency BSBESB402.
