Battery Storage Course

Battery Storage Course (UEERE0054, UEERE0060, UEERE0077, UEERE0078)

Our Battery Storage course is designed to meet the requirements of Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) for the Grid-connect battery storage Design and Install Accreditation.

The most recent data shows that Australia has the highest uptake of solar, globally. Clean Energy Regulator data suggests that more than 2.68 million rooftop solar power systems have been installed on Australian homes. It goes without saying that solar is not going anywhere any time soon – the industry is booming.

To be eligible to complete this course you MUST be a Licenced Electrician and have completed the solar install and design course OR hold SAA grid-connect install and design accreditation.  During the course you will complete the following units of competency:

UEERE0054 Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems
UEERE0060 Design grid-connected battery storage systems
UEERE0077 Install battery storage equipment power conversion equipment to grid
UEERE0078 Install battery storage to power conversion equipment

Our Trainer works with LG Chem, Tesla, Sungrow, PowerPlus energy, Selecteonic, Sonnen and has an extensive understanding of the Solar Industry.  During the course you will be shown real work applications of lead acid, lithium, vanadium flow, nickel cadmium, sodium nickel and zinc bromine battery installations.  You will leave with an understanding of DC coupled and AC coupled, self-consumption, partial backup and whole of home back up design.  You will also undertake practical work including testing, verification and commissioning of the system.

COURSE DURATION: 4 days

COURSE FEE: $2,500

CSQ SUBSIDISED COURSE FEE: $984*

This course is available for electricians who hold a current Queensland Electrical Work Licence (or equivalent) and who hold solar grid-connect qualifications with Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) or have completed units of competency UEERE0061 OR UEERE0011 OR UEENEEK135A & Hold SAA grid-connect accreditation. If you’d like to learn more about eligibility for this course, get in touch with the team Electro-training today to discuss your options for gaining solar grid battery endorsement and qualifications.

What are the units covered in this course?

This course covers the following nationally recognized units of competency:

  • UEERE0054 Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems
  • UEERE0060 Design grid-connected battery storage systems
  • UEERE0077 Install battery storage equipment power conversion equipment to grid
  • UEERE0078 Install battery storage to power conversion equipment

The course covers the following topics and has a focus on current and emerging battery technologies:

  • Topic 1 – Workplace Health & Safety
  • Topic 2 – System Configurations
  • Topic 3 – Battery Characteristics
  • Topic 4 – Secondary Battery Technologies
  • Topic 5 – Selecting & Sizing the Specified Loads
  • Topic 6 – Selecting & Sizing Battery Storage

  • Topic 11 – System wiring
  • Topic 12 – System Installation

What are the outcomes of completing the Battery Storage Course?

There are two types of Battery storage accreditation with Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA), these are grid-connect battery storage DESIGN and grid-connect battery INSTALL. Upon completion of this course Electricians can apply for accreditation for both Grid-connect Battery Storage Design and Install.

This means that participants will acquire skills across:

  • Planning the design of battery storage systems for grid-connected photovoltaic systems
  • Designing & documenting battery storage systems for grid-connected photovoltaic systems
  • All steps that go towards planning the installation, maintenance, or fault finding of battery storage systems for grid-connected PV systems
  • How to provide installation
  • Documenting the installation, maintenance or fault finding of battery storage systems for grid-connected PV systems

How is this course delivered?

The QLD Solar Battery course is delivered within a 4 day face-to-face workshop.

Over the duration of these four days, the students will work through simulated solar battery work situations, and the Trainer will be on-hand to offer support, guidance, supervision, and practical learnings. The trainer will also go through a real-world installation with the students, as well as complete an in-person assessment alongside students.
